All aspects of learning are effected when executive functioning skills are weak. We will work on time management, assignment organization, and routine creations to help reinforce those skills.
There are many aspects to reading. First we 'learn to read' and then we 'read to learn.' The goal is to bridge the gap between the former and the latter. Using techniques from the Reader's Workshop we will develop those skills through leveled books and developing meaning through context.
The writing process is a multi-step progression. Through the use of the Writer's Workshop we will work on identifying a seed, developing it with details, turning it into a written piece, and polishing it to its final presentation.
