My child has an IEP. Do you work with students who need academic support?
Absolutely!!! Tools In The Shed Tutoring was founded especially to work with those children who struggle academically, whether this stems from a learning disability or a social or emotional disabilities. I customize my lessons to reach EVERY child, regardless the level.
My child is so tired after school making homework a struggle. How will you motivate my child to work for additional time?
It is my belief that homework DOES NOT need to be seen as a hardship. By presenting the lessons in ways that spark interest in your child the homework battle is all but over. Tools In The Shed Tutoring approaches each student keeping both the academic and social/emotional in mind.
My child was just given an on-going assignment to be completed in class. Can you work with him/her during that time?
With advance planning it is very likely that I will be able to work with your child during the school day. Of course I would need both you and the school to approve this before finalizing plans.
There is a huge disconnect between what the teacher says and what my child hears. How will you help my child make up the work missed and stay on top of future assignments
I believe that tutors and teachers work best when they are synchronized. With your permission I will reach out to your child's teacher(s) and have on-going conversations with them. I will work with your child to keep track of current and future assignments, using multiple points of information.
